About Jennifer

Jennifer Climie is a Scottish writer whose work explores quiet resilience, forgotten histories, and the small, luminous moments that shape a life.

Born in Kilmarnock and raised in South Ayrshire, Jennifer has lived in the landscapes that shaped her imagination since childhood - the fields around home in Doonfoot, the shoreline of Girvan, and the winding paths of Burns Country. These places continue to influence her fiction, poetry, and memoir, infusing her work with a deep sense of place and a love of Scottish history.

Jennifer holds a degree in English Language and Literature, a discipline that nurtured her passion for stories, language, and the ways people find meaning in their lives. Though she grew up feeling most comfortable at the edge of the room - quiet, observant, rarely making eye contact after years of school bullying - she discovered early that the written word offered a safer, truer way to speak. Writing became the space where she could exist fully, without shrinking or hiding.

She writes novels, poetry, and children’s books, drawing inspiration from the classics she has always loved, the historical fiction she devours, and the psychological thrillers she reads for their insight into human complexity. Her curiosity about other cultures, religions, and ways of living also informs much of her creative work.

Jennifer is a vegetarian, a lover of nature, animals (especially Highland cows!), history and the arts and an enthusiastic wanderer of the Ayrshire countryside, often accompanied by her Siberian Husky, Meeko. Jennifer's main hobby is of course reading and she owns a vast array of books covering most genres.  She lives with her partner, John, and together they share three wonderful children - Ross, Shannon and Sean - who remain her greatest grounding force.

Jennifer also has a passion for learning and in addition to her English degree holds degrees in Business Studies, Social Sciences and History & Politics as well as an MBA.  She will embark on another Masters in Creative Writing in September 2026 in a mission to perfect her craft even more.

Whether she is writing about the quiet ones, the forgotten women of history, or the inner landscapes people carry in silence, Jennifer’s work is shaped by one enduring belief: even the softest voice has weight, and every story - whispered or shouted - deserves to be seen.
